Paper Title:

The Personality (Temperament and Character) Factors Related with Weight Loss Success in Obesity

Abstract: The main purpose of this study is investigation of relationships of the personality (temperament & character) factors with succesfull weight maintenance. Temperament and character was measured by Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI). Four group of subjects as “successfull obeses”, “unsuccesfull obeses”, “obeses who does not look for professional help” and “normal controls” -32 subjects for each, and 128 for total- were used. The obeses who lost at least 10% of their initial weight and who were succesfully maintained 10% less weight for one year were assigned to the group “succesfull obeses” and the obeses who couldn’t maintained weight loss were assigned to the group “unsuccesfull obeses”. These two groups were choosen from patients of a private clinic and other two group from general population. One way variance analysis indicated that “succesfull obeses” differed significantly with higher mean scores on Self Directedness (TCI), and Cooperativeness (TCI) character subscales than “obeses who does not look for professional help”. Results also pointed out that “normal controls” differed significantly by having lower Harm Avoidance (TCI) temperament subscale mean scores than “unsuccesfull obeses” and “obeses who does not look for professional help”.

Paper Title:

Sadism in Ben Jonson’s “Volpone”

Abstract: Man is the worst enemy to none but himself. He mostly likes other human beings to suffer, pine and languish. This has universally been recognized as the root cause of human sufferings in the history of civilization. This paper attempts to recommend a malice-free good society based on mutual understanding and esteem by stimulating the conscience of all concerned about how detrimental and fatal it may be to derive amusement in others’ pain. In Ben Jonson’s Volpone , the protagonist, Volpone, a Venetian clarissimo finds pleasure in tyrannizing his greedy, legacy-hunting neighbours, Voltore, Corbaccio, Corvino and others, which is a universal theme in literature as well as human society. While pursuing material gains like social positions, power, money and elements of luxury, a human being generally does not hesitate to usurp his fellow human beings’ interests and rights although he lives in the society with a pretentious smiling face and feigning courtesy with those living around him. This corresponds to Volpone’s disguise. Volpone is a typical figure perpetrating all sorts of mischieves in which Mosca, his parasite, works as a key accomplice. Eventually Volpone, Mosca and the greedy neighbours are brought home to rigorous punishment. It proves that sins never go unpunished.  This article attempts to rouse awareness regarding sin and its ultimate consequences in the minds of the readers and may largely contribute to our social well-being.

Paper Title:

Integration Quality Management Methods to reduce wasteful processes in an Industrial Context

Abstract: Reducing wasteful or non-value processes is one of the most important concerns in an organization. The organization, which approaches to reduce its wasteful processes, will achieve business improvement and satisfied customer and boosts its profit. To reach this goal organizations use various quality improvement methods such as Lean Management, ISO 9000 Series, Total Quality Management, Six Sigam and etc. Base on the situations companies often use more than one method simultaneously to increase the effectively of those models and to benefit their advantages. Organization which knows how various Quality improvement methods should be integrated can profit more and increase the affectivity of those methods. Although, there are some studies, which are investigated the possible integration between two models like Six Sigma and Lean Management, however, there is not clear how to integrate and optimize various quality and management methods to reduce wasteful or non-value activities. We propose an integrated  method for some quality and management methods such as Total Quality Management, Lean Management, ISO 9000 Series, Six Sigma and EFQM Excellence Model, which could be used by organization to improve its quality, reduce wasteful processes and optimize quality improvement methods.
